The specialisation in Clinical Child and Adolescent Studies offers research-based insights into the nature, gravity and causes of child and adolescent problems, as well as into effective treatments and programmes. Research into the causes of and the possibilities for influencing problematic child-rearing situations presupposes a multiple risk model. Children’s development is the result of the interaction between a given child and his or her environment. It is important to map the risk and protective factors in the child and in his or her environment (family, school, peer group), as well as the ways in which these factors impact one another.
Arbeidsmarkt
Na voltooiing van de masterspecialisatie Orthopedagogiek kun je ontwikkelings-problemen bij kinderen en jongeren identificeren, diagnosticeren en een op de uitkomsten van onderzoek gebaseerde behandeling ontwerpen en uitvoeren.
Met de kennis en vaardigheden die je opdoet kun je in allerlei functies aan de slag:
- in het onderwijs (bijvoorbeeld schoolbegeleidingsdienst, scholen voor speciaal onderwijs)
- een klinische functie (bijvoorbeeld een orthopedagogische praktijk)
- in de jeugdhulpverlening
Maar ook in het onderzoek kun je een bijdrage leveren aan het oplossen van ontwikkelingsproblemen bij kinderen en jongeren.
Het onderwijsprogramma van Orthopedagogiek voldoet aan de eisen die gesteld worden door de beroepsvereniging Nederlandse Vereniging van Pedagogen en Onderwijskundigen (NVO) voor de registraties Basis-Orthopedagoog en Basisaantekening Diagnostiek.
