The European Governance specialisation is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of the key theoretical and empirical issues related to governance in Europe. The central focus of most courses is the European Union, with particular attention to the impact of the EU as a set of governance structures beyond the nation-state. The seminars of this track concentrate on multilevel governance in the EU, EU institutions and decision-making, and policy implementation in diverse policy areas.
Career
The combination of academic and professional skills taught in the master’s programme makes Leiden graduates excellent candidates for positions in national and international Public Administration as well as for managerial positions in the private sector. Many of them also find their way to consultancy organisations.
