In the Golden Age, the Netherlands was the focal point of the world. This was the era of Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Rubens. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries the Netherlands lost some of its glory, but in the last quarter of the nineteenth century the country’s fame experienced a revival.

In de colleges Nederlandse kunst- en cultuurgeschiedenis staat zelfstandig onderzoek centraal. Je verwerft kennis van en inzicht in de Nederlandse kunstgeschiedenis en de maatschappelijke betekenis van het vakgebied.
Daarnaast ontwikkel je het vermogen om theoretische en praktische vragen te benaderen op de voor het vakgebied gebruikelijke manier. Je leert bovendien de vakwetenschappelijke literatuur kritisch te beoordelen.
