The master’s specialisation in Clinical Neuropsychology provides a theoretical background and practical training in neuropsychology and (clinical) neuropsychological research.
There is increasing recognition of the role neuropsychologists play in the management of brain diseases. The demand for their services is becoming greater as the population ages and medical (neuro)technology advances. Neuropsychologists assess and treat the cognitive, emotional and behavioural consequences of brain dysfunction.
Programme
The specialisation consists of coursework, an internship and a master’s thesis.
Requirements for post-graduate clinical training
Master’s students Clinical Psychology in Leiden qualify for the post-master’s clinical training programmes depending on their choices in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme. They need to follow an extended clinical internship and acquire the Beroepsaantekening Psychodiagnostiek (BAPD). Furthermore, there are some Bachelor electives besides the general Master curriculum courses required for entrance to post-master’s professional programmes. If not already completed these electives can be taken besides the general master curriculum.
