What Our Students Say

Frieder Munk

“The ChEB programme also takes us beyond the classroom: practical workshops, social events and discussion panels with guest speakers from the academic as well as the business world”

In co-operation with Leiden University, RSM initiated a brand-new Master programme in 2009 which I chose to enroll in as one of the first few. Having graduated with my Bachelor’s degree of Asian Studies and Management in Germany and China, the introduction of the MSc Chinese Economy & Business (CHEB) was the right opportunity at the right time for me to continue with my chosen symbiosis of subjects. Together with a small and diverse group of classmates, I find myself in an exciting and inspiring environment to further combine my economic and cultural interest in China.

While the lectures in Rotterdam provide insights into China’s reform era and its present and future business environment, we analyse the Chinese macroeconomic framework at Leiden University. Its Sinology department offers language courses at beginner and advanced levels for those students with an interest in learning Chinese. To practice my Mandarin skills, I find it very useful to connect with Sinology students from Leiden and participate in their advanced Chinese classes.

The CHEB programme also takes us beyond the classroom: practical workshops, social events and discussion panels with guest speakers from the academic as well as the business world create interesting opportunities to enrich the study experience with further learning and networking potential. As an upcoming highlight in 2010, I am especially looking forward to returning to China.

If you as a prospective CHEB student share my fascination about this highly dynamic and diverse country and want to combine it with sound management and economic skills, then I would recommend you to join the next generation of CHEB Master students.”
