Child and Family Studies focuses on the scientific study of the determinants and developmental outcomes of the parent-child attachment relationship and parenting practices in the family setting. In addition, care-giving in professional childcare settings and institutes is examined.

Programma

Het programma kenmerkt zich door een interdisciplinaire aanpak. Het combineert pedagogische en neurobiologische kennis en inzichten.

Het programma bestaat uit vijf inhoudelijke vakken, gewijd aan de volgende onderwerpen:

  1. gehechtheid;
  2. opvoedingsvoorlichting,
  3. vroegtijdige erkenning van en interventie bij opvoedingsproblemen;
  4. kindermishandeling en verwaarlozing;
  5. ontwikkelingspsychopathologie in gezinspedagogisch perspectief.

Daarnaast word je getraind in methoden en technieken van onderzoek, loop je een onderzoeksstage en schrijf je, onder begeleiding van een onderzoeker, een masterscriptie.
