Child and Family Studies focuses on the scientific study of the determinants and developmental outcomes of the parent-child attachment relationship and parenting practices in the family setting. In addition, care-giving in professional childcare settings and institutes is examined.

Na voltooiing van de masterspecialisatie Gezinspedagogiek kun je problemen die zich in de ontwikkeling van kinderen voordoen identificeren en helpen oplossen op basis van de uitkomsten van onderzoek.
Als specialist op het gebied van de ontwikkeling van kinderen binnen gezinnen en in de kinderopvang kun je in allerlei functies terecht, bij:
- consultatiebureaus
- bureaus voor opvoedingsondersteuning
- adoptieorganisaties
- kinderopvang
Je beschikt over de vaardigheden om wetenschappelijke kennis te vertalen in evidence-based oplossingen voor problemen die zich tijdens de dagelijkse praktijk van de opvoeding in gezinnen of in de kinderopvang voordoen.
