This master’s specialisation focuses on the development of children within their families and in day-care centres. This is a topic of great social importance. All kinds of minor and major problems can occur in child-rearing which Child and Family Studies experts can help prevent or resolve.
Programme
The programme is characterised by an interdisciplinary approach. It combines pedagogical and neurobiological knowledge and insights.
The programme consists of five substantive courses, devoted to the following subjects:
- attachment – child-rearing education – early diagnosis of and intervention in child-rearing problems – child abuse and neglect – development psychopathology from a Child and Family Studies perspective
In addition, students are trained in methods and techniques for research; they do an internship and write a master’s thesis under the supervision of a researcher.
For a more extensive description of the courses, see the e-Prospectus.
