The specialisation in Book and Digital Media Studies focuses on the dynamic process of the transmission of knowledge and information through analogue (print) and electronic (internet) media. You study both the historical development – from Gutenberg to Gates – and the modern practice of textual communication within its societal and technological context. Much attention is given to the far-reaching consequences of the digital revolution for the world of the book.

Career
Graduates of the MA in Book and Digital Media Studies leave with a well-developed knowledge of the history, theory and practice of books and textual transmission. The programme has a proven track-record of employability, with alumni working in all branches of the book trade, libraries, the cultural heritage sector and the knowledge industry. Our graduates have also found employment as publishers, antiquarians, booksellers, librarians, curators at the Special Collections department in a library, desktop publishers, desk editors, and project managers of electronic products for a publishing company.
