Religion and Society is a specialisation of the Research Master’s in Archaeology. The research master’s is an advanced two-year postgraduate programme with an even higher research component than the regular master’s programme and excellent scope for individual student initiative.

Entry requirements
- A BA in Archaeology with an average final mark of 7.5 over the last two years
- An 8 or higher for the bachelor’s thesis
- Proof of English Proficiency IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 570/230/88-90 90 evidenced by an appropriate test.
This last requirement does not apply if you have:- completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or
- an International Baccalaureate, or
- a Dutch bachelor’s diploma
Students who have a BA in Archaeology from Leiden University or another Dutch university with an average final mark of 7.5 over the last two years and 8 or higher for the bachelor’s thesis can apply for participation in the research master’s programme, see the Admission page.
