Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law is one of the Dutch-taught specialisations of the Master’s in Law. This specialisation is a serious option for legal scholars with an interest in philosophy. The focus is on analysing core legal concepts such as law, legislation, justice, fundamental rights, sovereignty, international legal order, the legal state, ownership, reasonableness and fairness. The starting point is always positive law, from where the debate progresses to the underlying core philosophical questions.
