The first teacher training programme in Chinese has started
The first teacher training programme in Chinese to be offered at master’s level in the Netherlands started on 15 August, with 11 students.
Increasing demand
Given the rate of economic growth in China and the development of China as one of the world’s major players, the increasing interest in Chinese language and culture is increasing. For several years it has been possible to opt to study Chinese as an extra subject in a number of secondary schools. The University is now starting a training programme for teachers of Chinese. The programme focuses not only on the Chinese language, it also pays broad attention to knowledge about Chinese culture and society.
Note: Students are required to be proficient in Dutch to enter this programme.
