Important factor in the spreading of breast cancer identified

Leiden researchers have discovered that the protein Annexin A1 plays an important role in metastasis of breast cancer. It regulates the plasticity of tumor cells which are mobile and can spread. On Tuesday, March 23 they publish their findings in PNAS Online Early Edition.

The research was mainly conducted by Marjo de Graauw and Martine van Miltenburg from the research group of Bob van de Water of the Leiden / Amsterdam Center for Drug Research.
