Leiden University offers scholarships to outstanding non-EU/EEA students pursuing a master’s degree programme at Leiden University.

Other Leiden University scholarships
- Praesidium Libertatis Scholarship, based on an agreement between Leiden University (the Netherlands) and the Central European University, Budapest (Hungary).

Dutch Scholarship Programmes for International Students
- Huygens scholarship for outstanding students from various countries who are nearing completion of their studies, or who have recently graduated or who wish to pursue research at master’s degree or PhD level.

Study Grants and Loans made available by the Dutch Ministry of Education

Grant for Tuition Fees made available by the Dutch Ministry of Education
Dutch students (who are enrolled in a government-funded programme, and who are under 30 at the start of their studies) pay an annual statutory tuition fee. If you come from an EU country and are following a study programme in the Netherlands, you may be eligible for a grant for these statutory tuition fees. GBI-GarantiBank Int. Scholarships for Turkish Students for the Advanced Studies Programme in European and International Business Law
Mr. Bahadir Ates CEO, GarantiBank International N.V. (“GBI”) and Professor Carel Stolker, Dean of the Law School of Leiden University, signed in Istanbul, Turkey on 24 November 2008, a contract in which scholarship funds provided by GBI will be awarded to three promising students from Turkey for the coming three years.
For whom?
The scholarship is intended for students who enrol in the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies Programme in European and International Business Law. Scholarships will be allocated to three applicants who are selected for study beginning academic year 2009/2010.
Amount
The scholarships shall be granted for the purpose of financing the full tuition fees of the successful candidates.
Application
Criteria and conditions for these scholarships are as follows:
- All applicants must submit a complete online application for the Master of Laws in Advanced Studies Programme in European and International Business Law, stating that they wish to be considered for a GBI Scholarship.
- Applications for the programme and the scholarship should be made directly through the online admission procedure and should not be addressed to GBI.
- Applicants should submit an additional letter of motivation outlining the reasons why they should be considered as a suitable candidate to receive one of the scholarships.
- The GBI Scholarship Selection Committee will meet to discuss applications in the Spring of each year. All 2009/2010 applicants will be informed by the Leiden Law School of the result of their scholarship application at the end of April 2009.
- Scholarship applicants must meet all the entry requirements for the Master of Laws in Advanced Studies Programme in European and International Business Law.
- Each year GBI may at its sole and absolute discretion offer one of the successful applicants of the scholarships the possibility of an internship at its Head Office in Amsterdam, during a period of their study time in the Netherlands.
- GBI reserves the right to offer at its sole discretion, those student(s) who have successfully graduated from the programme, the possibility of a two year paid employment contract with GBI either in The Netherlands (Amsterdam) or in Turkey (Istanbul).
